If your guests are arriving early or perhaps staying for a few days after the wedding, you can be assured that they will enjoy the comfort and elegance of The Falcon Hotel. Tennyson’s Restaurant and The Coachman’s Bar both offer a superb menu using the freshest of local produce; ingredients such as tender Cornish lamb, fine seafood caught off this North Cornish coast and local award winning cheeses all prepared and presented in a modern English style. The wine list features many classic European wines and a fine and varied selection from the New World.

 Beautiful Surroundings

The Falcon Hotel offers you a unique wedding experience in North Cornwall’s most beautiful surroundings. The scenic location will be an inspiration to your wedding photographer. On your arrival we can literally offer you the red carpet treatment to make your day unforgettable. Our landscaped gardens provide the perfect setting for photographs, as does the historic Bude Canal and lock gates. Alternatively, the majestic backdrop of the cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean from the breakwater offer a unique opportunity for your wedding album.

 About The Falcon Hotel

The Falcon, established in 1798, is the oldest coaching house in North Cornwall and was once the headquarters for the four-horse coaches running between Bideford, Clovelly, Bude, Boscastle, Tintagel and Newquay. Overlooking the Bude Canal and with its beautiful walled gardens, the Hotel has one of the finest settings in Cornwall. 

 Originally a lodging house providing accommodation for the captains of the merchant vessels that were trading or taking shelter in Bude Haven, after the opening of the Bude Canal, the lodging house became the Falcon Crest Inn and in 1826 was further extended to become the Falcon Hotel. These developments were made while under the patronage of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland who was one of the largest landowners in Bude at the time. The Aclands were an ancient Devonshire family from Killerton near Exeter and the Falcon was so named as a falcon forms the crest of the Acland Family Coat of Arms.

‘The Loveliest Peace of the West Country’ is the local phrase adopted that perfectly describes the special nature of this unspoilt area of coast and countryside. This is a land of mystery, of magic and romance, with miles of glorious beaches, towering cliffs, sandy coves, little fishing harbours and wide open spaces of moorland.
